Uploaded models get a synthetic
upload-… id and go through the exact same pipeline.
They have no stored source image, so a step 2 reference image (or a previewed edited plate) is
required before Retexture unlocks.2 · Texture reference

Leave empty — that is the normal case. The job's own source image is pulled from AIMML storage
and used as the plate, so the bake reproduces the same character. Only upload something here if you want to bake from a
different picture, or you have already edited one by hand. To change the look, just describe it in step 3.
3 · Describe the change (optional)
Your words are applied to the picture, not to the mesh: the source plate is edited to match
(“make the jacket red”), and the model is then re-baked from that edited plate. That is what keeps the
character — handing text straight to Tripo makes it invent a new one.
Repaint, not remodel. This changes colours and materials on the geometry that already exists. Ask for
a new object (“give him a hard hat”) and the edited plate will show one, but the mesh has no hat to
put it on — the bake just paints it flat onto whatever surface is nearest. Preview first: if the change only makes
sense as new geometry, it is not a retexture.
4 · Options
Turning off Preserve rig ships Tripo's raw return, which is unrigged and half scale. Inspection only.
Each run costs 10 Tripo credits (~$0.10) and takes 2–4 minutes. The import step is free.
